For those who are interested in high performance sport, the sections of sport club ACADEMIC UNIZA are available. The Institute of Physical Education regularly organizes one-day and multiple-day rafting courses (Soča, Salza, Váh, Hron, Belá), cycling trips connected with hiking and also winter ski courses (Low Tatras, Alps).

The Žilina-Záriečie station, also called Stanička, is not only a real railway station where trains run on the Zilina-Rajec track, but it is also the cultural and social centre of Žilina. You can find there almost everything. Concerts of various musicians and bands as well as very untraditional styles. Dance performances and wide range of workshops. Exhibitions, lectures on interesting topics, events for children, fairs of domestic products and projection of films. Everyone can find something interesting in the program.

It is located in the centre of the city near Marianske square and it is a home to the Slovak Sinfonietta Žilina. It is a place where orchestral concerts and performances of chamber ensembles take place. It is also used for concerts of guest groups.

The gallery offers a presentation of contemporary art transcending in the art of the 60s, 70s and 80s. It also offers the exhibitions of new media such as installation, video art, site-specific art and also classic media: painting, sculpture, graphics, poster and photography. Exhibitions of artistic creation of well-established Slovak artists – personalities of Slovak fine arts as well as artists of younger generation take place in the exhibition spaces of the gallery. This cultural monument of Žilina, despite the ongoing reconstruction, is used in parallel for concerts, lectures and exhibitions.

Like any larger city, Žilina also has its own theatre. It is located at Hlinka square. It offers many performances of Žilina theatre actors, as well as other theatre ensembles from various Slovak cities.

A 12-member artistic ensemble prepare many performances not only for children and schools but also for adults, such as Evening Wednesdays for Adults.
