Measures UNIVERSITY OF ŽILINA to the New Coronavirus COVID-19


Following recommendations for educational institutions provided by the Slovak Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, as well as information provided by the World Health Organization, in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus COVID-19 and protect our community members well-being, the following steps are undertaken at the University of Žilina:

The study process is interrupted from 6 of November 2020 until further notice.
The pedagogical process will be accomplished through distance-learning or another appropriate form.
Details shall be stated by the deans of the faculties and the directors of the institutes.

The management of University of Žilina has taken the decision to continue with student exchange programmes under Erasmus+ and self-funded programmes only with on-line classes for summer (spring) semester.



Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a new strain that was discovered in 2019 and has not been previously identified in humans.

Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV).



  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Maintain social distancing at least 2 meter.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Stay informed and follow advice given by your healthcare provider.
  • If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early.
